change.

“If you don’t like the way it makes you feel, change it.”

The sentence that changed it all for me! One thing about my sister, once she gets a mental strong suit on avoidance, she doesn’t waver. At this time, she was in a phase of not entertaining negativity. She said this, in a dismissive tone, to ensure I knew she was done listening to my complaining. “If you don’t like the way it makes you feel, change it.” I’m still not sure that she was giving advice or shutting me up but I’m forever grateful. I gave her this advice years later in a conversation and asked her if it sounded familiar; it didn’t.

Simple, right? If you don’t like the way something makes you feel… change it. We, as beings, are more than capable of changing every aspect of our life, at any given second. Our entire life can be different with a simple choice. Every day we make choices. Every day we find ourselves in routine. We become predictable in our daily habits. We complain about how we wish things could be different, while continuing to habitually live in a cycle of choices that don’t serve us… You can’t just wish that things were better, internally or externally, it takes a simple choice to act. Find a solution that fills your cup. YOUR cup. The hardest things I’ve overcome were done with simple sentence. Perhaps your ‘life changing moment’ will be a different but the principle remains the same. Find the place in the universe where your worries are not of your own. Blessings are abundant, far surpassing the burdens that we notice in our day to day. The scariest, most exhilarating transformation of every part of you starts with a finding how you really feel. Finding the domestications that don’t serve you and releasing them, one by one.

This is the creation of earth and it’s people. The earth was without form, void and dark. The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
